SILENT LETTERS (DOUBT, SUBTLE)

The sound of the bird in the distance was very subtle. Jay began to doubt whether he heard it at all.

O som do pássaro ao longe era muito sutil. Jay começou a duvidar se realmente tinha ouvido.

As subtle as the sound was, it still had an insistent feel to it. There was no doubt that’s what he heard.

Por mais sutil que fosse o som, ainda tinha uma sensação insistente. Não havia dúvida de que foi isso que ele ouviu.

The bird’s call became tiresome, droning on and on. Then it changed from subtle to nearly nerve-racking, until he had no doubt at all that he had to find it and help.
