SILENT LETTER (MECHANIC, SCHEME)

The mechanic is working on a scheme to solve all of the problems my car has. But I’m concerned that his scheme might not work out.

O mecânico está trabalhando em um esquema para resolver todos os problemas que o meu carro tem. Mas estou preocupado que seu esquema possa não funcionar.

I think he’s a great mechanic; it’s not that I don’t trust him. But I’m concerned that his scheme will fall short and my car will run like an old clunker.

Sometimes in the past when mechanics came up with a scheme to solve the problems of my car, they fell short, and the problem didn’t end up with a solution. I’m hoping that he will come up with a scheme that works well and leaves me with a fully functioning car!
